My nephew Jack Davis with 8715Bravo back home in Alaska |
The next day as we are departing, Aunt Fran gives me a souvenir tee shirt
of UNALAKLEET. We depart after refueling. As we leave the area we fly
up the valley over the Degnen's cabin (Jennifer's parents)
a few miles out of town. Jack and
I have fallen into somewhat of a pattern in that he flies for the first
few hours and then takes a short nap while I fly awhile. Since this
return is somewhat shorter, we will not need to refuel prior to Fairbanks.
Today the sky has many clouds that we have to skirt, until we decide to
climb over them and total flying time from Unalakleet to Fairbanks is 3.5
hours. Having left Wichita, Ks on Tuesday June 29, it is now Monday July
5. We have flown a total of 42.5 hours in less than a week and we say
goodbye to our faithful mount 8715B as we leave it on the Fairbanks
airport for a well-deserved rest. Bud meets us at the airport with Andy
and Rhoda's trusty Toyota pickup and soon we are off to Denali State Park
and south to Valdez before they drop me at Anchorage for my return flight
home. .....but that's another story. |
